what to expect

Children playing instruments and creating art in a colorful, open room with adults looking on, with girls in yellow dresses dancing in the background.

Our future museum will bring cultural experiences to children, encouraging visitors to explore music and art through creative play, movement, and touch.

Our future visitors can expect play spaces that bring famous art and music to life, and studio spaces for them to try out instruments and make their own art.

Accessibility tools and STEM based activities will not only invite all visitors to explore the arts, but also create a better understanding of hearing, vision, and how others experience the world.

From opening day onward, children ages 0–12 and the grown-ups who accompany them can expect meaningful play, shared creativity, and an early bond with the arts at the Children’s Museum of Sound & Color.

Join us in bringing our museum to life by donating, volunteering, or spreading the word today.

what we provide

An adult guides the hands of a child over a raised textured image of a hedgehog and braille.

Accessible Sensory exhibits

Exhibits designed for children to learn about the science behind hearing and sight, including education and accessibility tools for experiencing art and music with vision or hearing loss.

Children play with homemade paper puppets on sticks behind a screen with light shining behind it to create a shadow puppet show.

art & music made for kids

Immersive, play-based learning exhibits and programming that encourage visitors to create, experiment, and explore famous works of art and music.

what makes us different

Instead of offering small samples of different topics, we are creating a space that specializes in hands-on art and music education and the science behind how we hear and see the world.

As a new museum under development, we want to engage with our community and future visitors to create innovative experiences that are as unique and beautiful as them, that celebrate our differences and bring us together in shared experience.

Our exhibits will introduce famous art and music to kids in ways that engage, inspire, and excite them most — through play!

why Art & Music

  • A smiling young child with headphones watches the inner workings of a piano through a clear window on the top of the piano as she plays.

    academic achievement

When children sculpt with clay or play music, they’re strengthening the parts of their brains that develop language, math, and memory.

  • A young child creates a colorful drawing using large markers.

    Cognitive development

Engaging with music and art in early childhood builds young brains by strengthening fine motor skills, problem-solving, and focus.

  • Multiple children putting their hands on each other with colorful building tools in the background.

    social-emotional development

Creative play with art and music can help children grow confidence, express emotions, and collaborate better in groups.

We’re just getting started and we need your help to grow!

At this founding stage, the museum is entirely volunteer-led. Every contribution directly supports the planning, partnerships, and exhibit development needed to establish our museum. Your generosity — whether through donations, shared resources, or something unique — helps us take the next step toward a physical home.
